filing bankrupt

Any general tips on filing for bankruptcy?
So I was scammed by someone from the United Arab Emirates and Now the bank is coming after me for about $ 10,000, and the only way I can think out of this situation is to file bankruptcy. Is something I can do or that I'll need a lawyer? And any other advice from someone on this would be great. PS NO I am not stupid just because I am the victim of a scam.
To be eligible for Chapter 7, which is the guy who actually discharges the debt, you must pass an "average" … This test usually means that your income must be below the average of your state …. Most BK attorneys offer free consultations for you allow to discover this if you are eligible. You can certainly file your own but I advise hiring a lawyer … A missed "do it yourself" BK filing can return to haunt you later. $ 10K is a lot but to be honest, people who file for Chapter 7 is generally a lot more debt …. Remember that if you file for Chapter 7, you will not be allowed to file again during another eight years … So if you produce and get into a worse financial bind in two years from now, this will be a really bad situation. Also, if you not produce, be sure you have comprehensive health insurance for you and your dependents …. The only thing absolute worst that can happen after filing for Chapter 7 is to have a medical emergency expensive when not having insurance ….. disadvantage of being only two nights in hospital could overshadow the debt you are in now ….
